East Africa Service Project 2009 - 2012

When I was in college at Fort Lewis in Durango, Colorado I helped start a student organization called the East Africa Service Project which completed a number of small scale community projects in Tanzania and Uganda. The photos above are from a sanitation project that I designed and implemented in a small island in northern Lake Victoria called Zinga. The island had a population of approximately 1,000 people.

My friend and I grew the East Africa Service Project to support two HIV/AIDS clinics, one in Tanzania and one in Uganda, we started one transportation business as an income-generating project for one of the clinics, and I led the sanitation project. The impact of the projects directly benefited 2,200 people and raised approximately $25,000 while we were leading the organization. The East Africa Service Project was voted the best student organization in 2011 which was our second year operating.
